Sengkang General Hospital Evaluates the Diagnostic Performance of CoLumbo AI for Spine MRI Analysis
Sengkang General Hospital evaluated CoLumbo AI for lumbar spine MRI reporting, demonstrating reduced reporting times while maintaining comparable diagnostic accuracy.
The Department of Radiology at Sengkang General Hospital in Singapore has evaluated the potential clinical benefits of using CoLumbo AI for lumbar spine MRI analysis and reporting.
“Radiology often gets lost in the running of a hospital. But behind the walls and doors and in our darkened rooms, radiology is experiencing a massive surge in caseload brought about by increased reliance on imaging and the need for more accurate and precise diagnoses,” said Dr. Min-On Tan of Sengkang General Hospital.
Dr. Tan highlighted the growing role of diagnostic AI solutions in supporting radiology departments as they manage increasing imaging volumes and demand for efficient and accurate reporting.
Working with CoLumbo AI and the CARPL.ai Radiology AI Platform, a team from Sengkang General Hospital’s Department of Radiology explored the real-world benefits of integrating an AI solution for lumbar spine MRI into clinical practice.
“With the help of CoLumbo AI and CARPL – Radiology AI Platform, and the superb brainstorming of Vasanth Venugopal, a small group of us at Sengkang General Hospital Department of Radiology set out to show potential real-world benefits of having an MRI Lumbar Spine solution implemented into practice. We managed to show that senior residents with AI significantly reduced reporting times and had similar accuracy levels compared to senior consultant MSK radiologists,” said Dr. Tan.
The evaluation highlights the potential of AI-assisted lumbar spine MRI analysis to support radiologists by improving reporting efficiency while maintaining diagnostic performance.
The findings also demonstrate how solutions such as CoLumbo AI Spine Assistant can be integrated into radiology workflows to support clinicians in managing increasing imaging workloads.
